Nigerian-American singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently shared that his American passport has made international travel easier for him. While his band members sometimes face challenges with visa approvals, Davido has an advantage due to his American citizenship.
In a recent interview with Omega, the Atlanta-born singer emphasized the value of the American passport, stating that it is worth more than a million dollars. However, he also expressed pride in his Nigerian nationality.
Davido explained that his background as being born abroad only became widely known after he gained fame. Prior to that, people assumed he lived in Nigeria. He highlighted his connection with the Nigerian streets and mentioned that he could freely travel to America whenever he wanted.
He further illustrated the significance of his American passport by recounting a tour to Australia where his band members encountered difficulties obtaining the necessary papers due to their passports. In contrast, Davido found it relatively easier because of his blue passport.
Davido’s remarks shed light on the privileges associated with holding an American passport while expressing his appreciation for his Nigerian roots.
