
According to Sunday PUNCH, a total of 2,518 Nigerian evacuees were flown back to Nigeria in 15 flights from Sudan. The last batch of Nigerians airlifted from Port Sudan consisted of 147 returnees. Among them were 1,108 Nigerians who were stranded at the Egyptian border due to the insurrection in Sudan, while 1,406 others were evacuated from Port Sudan. The first and second batches of 282 and 94 evacuees arrived from Egypt via Air Peace and the Nigerian Air Force CI30 flights, respectively, on May 3. The third and fourth batches of 130 and 131 evacuees arrived on May 5 and May 6, respectively, from Port Sudan via Tarco Air. The eighth batch of 133 evacuees arrived on May 8 from Port Sudan via Tarco Air, while the ninth and tenth batches of 126 and 126 Nigerians arrived on May 9 via Tarco Air from Port Sudan. On May 10, the 11th batch arrived with 128 returnees via Tarco Air from Port Sudan. On May 11, the 12th and 13th batches, consisting of 135 and 123 Nigerians, arrived from Port Sudan. The 14th and 15th batches arrived on May 13, with 125 and 147 Nigerian returnees via Tarco Air from Port Sudan.
