President Bola Tinubu has asserted that he deserves to be listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for the impactful reforms he implemented since taking office on May 29, 2023.
During his address at the 10th German-Nigerian Business Forum in Berlin, Germany, Tinubu highlighted his transformative initiatives as the governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, emphasizing his role in elevating the state to the fifth-largest economy on the African continent.
Addressing the audience, Tinubu stated, “For those who fear various obstacles, look at me; I come from the private sector, and I’m one of you, trained by Deloitte. I served as the treasurer of Exxon Mobil. I define corporate governance in any way, and I am in it.”
He proudly mentioned his eight consecutive years of governance in Lagos, citing the state’s significant economic growth during his tenure. Tinubu asserted that this track record positioned him for the presidency.
“Nigeria voted for me for reforms, and from day one of my inauguration, I started the reforms. To me, if you didn’t mention me in the Guinness Book of Records, I’d thrive to find a way to insert myself because I did it without expectation; my inaugural speech disclosed what I would do,” Tinubu added.
These statements were made following the signing of two crucial agreements between Nigerian and German companies in Berlin on Tuesday.
