Mrs. Olumiyi, the mother of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as MohBad, has claimed that the deceased’s father is hindering the burial process, insisting that the police have released the body and are awaiting the family to claim it for burial. In a viral video on Tuesday, Olumiyi sought support from Nigerians to appeal to MohBad’s father to collect the singer’s remains from the Lagos State Police Command.
According to Olumiyi, MohBad’s corpse has been released since the completion of the autopsy conducted by the police-assigned pathologist. She expressed her desperation for the release of her son’s body, stating that she had approached the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, who confirmed the release but questioned why the family was not taking steps for the burial.
In the video, she appealed to Nigerians, President Bola Tinubu, youths at home and abroad, and friends of the late singer to intervene in the matter, claiming that MohBad’s body had been wandering around since being exhumed, and she was facing immense distress.
Meanwhile, MohBad’s father, Joseph Aloba, has insisted that nobody should collect his son’s body for burial without his authorization. In a TikTok video shared on Sunday, he warned against taking any action without his consent, stating that he would be the one to authorize any activity concerning his son’s remains.
Today marks two months since the exhumation of MohBad’s corpse, with the police having initiated an autopsy to determine the cause of the singer’s death. The autopsy report is yet to be officially released to the police, according to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.
