On Tuesday, the Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI successfully rescued 31 kidnapped individuals from various locations in Sokoto State. The Nigerian Army made this announcement in a statement posted on its official Twitter handle on Wednesday.
Under the command of Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, Sokoto, the troops have been actively escalating their efforts, conducting a series of clearance operations against terrorist enclaves in the North West.
The statement outlined the recent success, stating, “In a recent clearance operation conducted by the troops of OPHD on November 21, 2023, at Tangaza LGA of Sokoto state, Alya Fulani village and Buani forest were cleared, resulting in the rescue of 30 kidnapped individuals. All identified terrorists’ hideouts were eradicated as the militants abandoned their captives and fled before the arrival of the proactive troops.”
The troops extended their operation to Goboro village, where they rescued one female kidnapping victim. The terrorists and bandits scattered in disarray in the face of the troops’ superior firepower.
