Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has hailed the election petition tribunal’s validation of his electoral triumph as a clear testament to the people’s choice.
In the March 2023 gubernatorial election, Lawal emerged victorious, surpassing his predecessor, Mohammed Matawalle.
Previously, the Zamfara Election Petitions Tribunal, situated in Sokoto, had upheld Lawal’s election as the state’s governor.
In a press release issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, on Monday in Gusau, it was underscored that the tribunal’s ruling echoes the resounding voice of the people.
“It wasn’t long ago that Dauda Lawal was reaffirmed as the victor of the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election at the Zamfara Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which convened in Sokoto. The verdict didn’t come as a surprise but rather served as a confirmation of the collective choice made by the unwavering populace of Zamfara,” a portion of the statement conveyed.
Lawal garnered 377,726 votes, outstripping Matawalle’s tally of 311,976 votes in the election.
