President Bola Tinubu emphasized his commitment to prioritizing the health and safety of Nigerians during a meeting with Bill Gates, Co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Aliko Dangote, President of the Aliko Dangote Foundation. The President expressed his determination to support efforts to eradicate diseases such as polio, measles, and malaria from Nigeria and Africa as a whole. Aliko Dangote also highlighted the Foundations’ dedication to improving the health sector in Nigeria and sought further cooperation from the government to achieve their goals.
Bill Gates is currently visiting Niger Republic and Nigeria to engage with leaders and partners in addressing health and development challenges. The visit aims to strengthen collaboration with communities and leaders to promote innovation that can accelerate progress and improve lives across Africa. Mr. Gates will also participate in discussions with students and young leaders to gather insights and share perspectives on how science and innovation can drive positive change in Africa.
In a separate meeting, President Bola Tinubu assured prospective investors in Nigeria of a better business climate and emphasized the safety and growth of investments in the country. During the meeting with Sunil Bharti Mittal, Founder and Global Chairman of BHARTI AIRTEL, and other Airtel executives, President Tinubu expressed his historical connection with the company and his support for its entry into Nigeria during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State. Mr. Mittal offered his goodwill and highlighted his role as a businessman and investor in Nigeria, as well as a member of the Business Advisory Council of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The President assured the Airtel delegation that efforts are underway to improve the business environment for all investors in Nigeria.
