Festus Keyamo, SAN, who serves as the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has issued a call to Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, both of whom were presidential candidates for the People’s Democratic Party and Labour Party in the February elections. Keyamo urged them to reach out and congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the Supreme Court’s recent ruling.
Atiku and Obi had taken their cases to the Supreme Court to contest their losses at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT). However, the Supreme Court, in a judgment prepared and delivered by Justice Inyang Okoro, dismissed their appeals on the grounds of lacking merit.
In response, Keyamo posted a message on his social media page, emphasizing the need for the nation to move forward. He highlighted the distinction between emotions and the law in election petitions and criticized the unnecessary bitterness and hatred that characterized the opposition’s approach. He praised the justices for their firmness and intellectual rigor.
Keyamo called on other presidential candidates to display patriotism by reaching out to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and offering their congratulations. He also stressed the importance of unity among patriotic citizens to help guide the country in the right direction, concluding with well wishes for everyone.
