The incumbent Governor of Rivers State, Wike, has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Cole, for demanding election documents from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office. According to Wike, Cole lost the March 18 governorship election to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Siminalayi Fubara, and does not need to visit TV stations or the INEC office.
Wike further stated that even if the election is cancelled multiple times, Cole cannot defeat the PDP candidate. INEC had declared Fubara as the winner of the Rivers State governorship election on March 21, 2023, after he polled 302,614 votes to beat Cole, who scored 95,274 votes and came second.
Wike made these remarks during the commissioning of Government Secondary School Kpor in Gokana Local Government Area on April 4, 2023. He criticized Cole for attempting to collect Certified True Copies (CTCs) of election documents from INEC, stating that it was the duty of lawyers and agents to handle such matters.
The Governor also mentioned that Cole has enough time to speak on TV stations about the election but is instead focused on fulfilling his promises to the people of the state.
