Chief Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network, Amotekun, has announced that his team has successfully expelled over 9,000 illegal herders who crossed the border into the state. Adeleye spoke to reporters in Akure, the capital of Ondo state, and noted that many of these herders had entered the state under the cover of darkness through border towns. He expressed concern about the infiltration of criminals who posed as herders to gain access to the state and carry out illegal activities. He revealed that these herders came to Ondo with large numbers of cattle to perpetrate crimes, often travelling in trucks and refusing to submit to security checks. Adeleye emphasized that only herders registered with the state government would be permitted to operate in the state, warning that illegal ones would be turned away. He stated that his team was working on various strategies to prevent illegal herders from entering the state, particularly through border towns.
