Peter Okoye of P-Square, a Nigerian singer, has issued an apology to the Nigeria Police Force on behalf of his fellow musician, Seun Kuti, who was involved in a confrontation with a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos. Okoye has also appealed to the police to show leniency towards Kuti’s actions, which were captured in a viral video.
Many Nigerians have criticized Kuti’s behavior after the video showed him assaulting a police officer. Consequently, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, ordered the music star’s arrest.
Speaking on the incident, Okoye took to Twitter on Sunday and condemned Kuti’s actions while pleading with the security agency to handle the case with utmost mercy.
In his tweet, Okoye wrote, “Dear @PoliceNG, What Seun did was wrong! Please temper justice with mercy!”
