In preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, the Hisbah Corps in Jigawa State has issued an order to shut down all beer parlours and prostitution spots immediately. Ibrahim Dahiru, the state’s Hisbah commandant, announced this measure during an interview on April 4, 2023, as part of the Corps’ efforts to combat social vices during Ramadan.
According to Dahiru, the Hisbah Corps has already sensitized alcohol sellers and commercial sex workers on the importance of complying with this directive. He went on to say that the Corps has warned those engaged in such activities to either desist from their illicit businesses or leave the state.
The Hisbah commandant also stated that the Corps would carry out extensive patrols to apprehend anyone who ignores the order.
