Simi, a Nigerian musician, has expressed admiration for her fellow artist Habeeb Okikiola, who is popularly known as Portable, despite his controversial behavior. Portable made headlines when a video of him resisting arrest by police officers went viral. He was detained for three days and subsequently arraigned in court on charges of assault and theft of musical equipment. Although he was granted bail, the magistrate ordered that he be remanded at the correctional centre in Ilaro until his bail conditions were met.
After his release, Portable released a new song called ‘Federal Government Liability,’ in which he boasted about not having to wear a prison uniform during his stay at the correctional centre. The song received mixed reactions. However, Simi praised Portable’s resilience and said that he deserved recognition.
In a tweet, Simi said, “Gotta give Portable his flowers lol.”
