The Oyo State Waste Management Task Force has initiated the process of issuing abatement notices to companies, industries, and households without waste bins in the state. The Chairperson of the agency, Mrs Aderonke Adedayo, highlighted the significance of waste bins in maintaining a clean and healthy environment in both homes and businesses. This recent move is part of the state government’s efforts to ensure proper waste management and environmental sanitation across the state. Adedayo emphasized that waste bins can prevent littering and indiscriminate dumping of waste on streets, calling on landlords and property owners to provide waste bins for their premises and adhere to the waste management laws in the state.
Adedayo affirmed that the Task Force will guarantee proper waste management in the state as it is essential to the health and wellbeing of residents. She stressed that the use of waste bins is mandatory in Oyo State to prevent the spread of diseases. The Managing Director of Mottainai Recycling Limited, Mr Adey Adewuyi, cautioned that the notice issued to businesses and residential properties was in anticipation of the forthcoming enforcement of the use of waste bins by businesses and residents across the state. Adewuyi stated that Mottainai would collaborate with relevant agencies, such as the Task Force and Environmental officers, to ensure compliance. He encouraged residents to adopt the use of waste bins and cultivate a habit of disposing of their waste responsibly. Adewuyi also reassured the public that Mottainai is working tirelessly with the Oyo state environmental task force and other relevant agencies to ensure a cleaner Oyo State, and to enforce the use of waste bins across the state.
