Ismaila Ojo has been sentenced to death by hanging by the Ado Ekiti Division of the Ekiti State High Court for strangling Kareem Adu to death over a motorcycle on May 13, 2018. The court found Ojo guilty of causing Adu’s death by holding and pressing his neck and throat after a dispute over ownership of the motorcycle. Inspector Tunde Arowosola, the police prosecutor, stated that Agnes Adu had reported to the station that Ojo had killed her husband at Odo-Uro. Inspector Lasisi Bashiru testified that the defendant confessed to the crime, saying that after taking his bath, he went to Adu’s house and met him sleeping, where they fought but did not use any weapons or hard objects.
