Access to the estate where the seven-storey building collapsed in Banana Island, Lagos State has been restricted to journalists. Several reporters from different media outlets have been asked to wait outside the estate gate until they are permitted to enter.
Despite some journalists being present since Wednesday morning, they were not allowed into the estate, and no clear explanation was given for this. A representative from the estate management stated that journalists and construction workers were being kept out to prevent any potential security breach by hoodlums.
The representative emphasized that there are security protocols in place, and journalists will only be allowed access when it is deemed appropriate. He added that the Public Relations Officer (PRO) will address the reporters at a later time.
Although the waiting journalists were provided with a tent, emergency responders were granted unrestricted entry to the estate.
