As the May 29 deadline for the transition to a new democratically elected administration approaches, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, has restated his commitment to ensuring a peaceful and smooth handover in the state. The governor made this declaration while receiving the report of the committee responsible for drafting the transition/handover notes during an enlarged meeting of the State Executive Council on Friday.
At the Executive Council Chamber in Government House, Uyo, Emmanuel presided over the meeting and promised to continue supporting the incoming administration to ensure the smooth running of the state. He stressed the need for a peaceful and seamless transition and said that the early submission of the transition report would allow the incoming administration ample time to study it and plan accordingly for its implementation.
He further added that the incoming administration could count on the full support of his outgoing administration and that his team would provide all necessary explanations to ensure their success. Emmanuel commended the members of the drafting committee for their due diligence and promptness in preparing and delivering the detailed and accurate report.
