CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian police force, has publicly denounced a recent incident involving officers who were seen in a viral video assaulting an unidentified man. In a Twitter post on Monday, he expressed his disapproval of the officers’ behavior and promised to take action. The video, which has been widely shared on social media, depicts a police officer hitting and slapping the victim.
Adejobi described the incident as “unfortunate” and stated that he had instructed the Rivers State Command to identify the officers involved. He emphasized that the behavior exhibited by the officers was unacceptable, unprofessional, and should be condemned. He also expressed sympathy for the victim, stating that no matter what the man might have done, he did not deserve to be treated in such a manner.
Adejobi further criticized the severity of the assault, noting that the victim was a grown man and should not have been beaten like a child. He assured the public that the police force would not tolerate such behavior from its officers and promised to take appropriate action against those responsible.
