Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu, owned by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, has prohibited the use of artificial materials such as fake fingernails and eyelashes, as well as short clothing by staff and students for work and lectures. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, announced these measures in a meeting with staff and students on Thursday in Enugu. Fr. Anieke warned that the management would not tolerate staff or students who wear tight or revealing clothing that exposes sensitive parts of their bodies, as they distract other members of the university. He added that only black and brown hair would be allowed on campus, and that students would be required to wear their faculty uniforms from Tuesdays to Fridays. The exchange of pornographic materials is also prohibited.
The vice chancellor urged staff to be proactive in covering their lectures and warned final-year students against plagiarism, with the university librarian directed to conduct plagiarism tests on all research works by students and staff. The meeting was attended virtually by students and staff of the university and associated institutions.
