Encomium, emotions as UNIZIK bids slain lecturer farewell
Prof. Anthony Eze, a member of the management team at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, was remembered in a commendation service on Thursday after his death on February 7, 2023. The late Eze, who worked in the Faculty of Education, was reportedly killed by assailants in his residence in Awka.
During the service, Vice Chancellor Prof. Charles Esimone praised Eze as a professor of high repute who had touched many lives during his time in active service. Esimone offered condolences to Eze’s family, particularly his wife and children, and assured them of the university’s support. The Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Vivian Nwogbo, described Eze as a great man who was always ready to help ensure things moved forward. Eze’s son, Bar. Stanley Nwekeze, expressed his family’s sorrow at his father’s passing and praised him as a rare gem. The service was a reminder to show love and benevolence while we still have the opportunity.
