
The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Ammani, has instructed all operational and intelligence officers of the police to safeguard the state during the Easter festivities. In a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the commissioner cautioned police operatives to comply with the Nigeria Police Force’s rules of engagement and refrain from unprofessional conduct during this period.
The commissioner promised that residents and visitors to the state would be adequately protected and secure during and beyond the holiday period. He congratulated the state’s residents, particularly Christian worshippers, on the occasion of Easter celebrations, marking Jesus Christ’s death, resurrection, and ascension.
The commissioner directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical/Operational Unit Heads to utilize all operational and intelligence resources at their disposal to guarantee peaceful celebrations before, during, and after the holiday period. He also cautioned commanders and operational supervisors to ensure that personnel under them adhered to the Nigeria Police Force’s guidelines to prevent unprofessionalism and bear responsibility for any lapses.
The commissioner appealed to all individuals to celebrate responsibly and peacefully, and he urged Christians to use the period to pray for the peace and progress of Enugu State and Nigeria. He called on residents to exhibit the true essence of Jesus Christ, which is characterized by love and selflessness, while remaining supportive, law-abiding, and vigilant.
