Yesterday, Justice Charles Agbaza of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama, Abuja, acquitted and discharged the President of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Mr. Innocent Bola-Audu, and three other civil servants of human trafficking charges. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) had accused the four defendants of human trafficking in 2021. However, Justice Agbaza found the prosecution’s evidence insufficient to link the defendants to the offense and ruled in favor of their “no-case” submission. The acquitted workers included Innocent Bola-Audu, the Chief Accountant on Grade Level 14, and Cecilia Aneke, an Assistant Executive Officer on Grade Level 13.
