Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has administered the oath of office to nine re-nominated commissioners in the state. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the State Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday.
These commissioners, who were previously aligned with the former governor, Nyesom Wike, had resigned during the intense political rivalry between Wike and Governor Fubara. However, as part of the agreements outlined in the eight-point agenda following the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in the political dispute, the Rivers State House of Assembly re-screened and re-confirmed the former commissioners.
In his congratulatory message to the commissioners, Governor Fubara encouraged them to prioritize the well-being of the state. He stated, “I don’t think I have any charge for you. You have already read your charge to uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I urge you to do the right thing. I can see how heavy your hearts are. I don’t blame you. You were caught in the crossfire.”
