On Tuesday, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Chukwuma Onaga, delivered an Easter message to the Catholic faithful at the Catholic Bishop’s Court in Enugu. He called on Christians to appreciate the roles and sacrifices made by Jesus Christ in the salvation of mankind. Onaga emphasized that Jesus Christ consolidated the commandment of love as the highest commandment in saving mankind, as demonstrated when He washed and wiped the feet of his disciples during the Last Supper.
The bishop urged Nigerian leaders to emulate the example exhibited by Jesus Christ. He reminded them that the Easter celebration is a significant occasion for Christians to have hope in eternity, as hopes do not end on earth. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolize this message.
Finally, the Catholic bishop wished Christians a wonderful Easter celebration and asked them not to forget the essence of Easter. He encouraged them to participate in activities that commemorate the season.
