After hitting his teammate Leroy Sane, Bayern has decided to suspend Sadio Mane from the upcoming game against Hoffenheim. The incident took place after Bayern’s 3-0 defeat by Manchester City on Wednesday, for which Mane will also receive a fine.
A meeting was held on Wednesday by Bayern Munich officials to discuss possible punishments for Mane. The options considered included a fine, suspension, and even parting ways in the summer. It was expected that Mane would apologize to the team during Thursday’s training session.
During the match against City on Tuesday night, Mane and Sane were seen arguing on the pitch. After returning to Munich, Mane took the team bus from the airport, while Sane was picked up privately. Sane was later pictured appearing to hide his bottom lip from cameras.
As a result of his misconduct, Sadio Mane, aged 31, will not be a part of the FC Bayern squad for the game against Hoffenheim. The club has stated, “The reason is Mane’s misconduct after FC Bayern’s Champions League game at Manchester City. In addition, Mane will receive a fine.”
