The Anambra State government, under the leadership of Prof Charles Soludo, has demolished a multi-million naira building that was constructed on land claimed to belong to the state government. The building, which was a two-storey structure containing six three-bedroom flats, was recently completed but was pulled down by the Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA) on Saturday. Mr Ossy Onuko, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ACTDA, led the demolition team to the site in Isuaniocha, Awka North Local Government Area, and stated that the Soludo administration would not tolerate land grabbers. He warned those who encroach on government land to desist from doing so, as they will face the full weight of the law, no matter how heavy the loss on them will be. The land on which the building was erected was originally owned by the Catholic Diocese of Awka and had been a source of unrest in the community, as some members sold the parcel of land to interested individuals who were unaware of the original ownership.
