Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Sultan of Sokoto, has advised politicians, including Peter Obi, who are contesting the results of the 2023 elections in court, to accept the outcome of the elections in good faith. Obi had contested the declaration of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the presidential election.
In his Eid-el-Fitr message to Nigerians on Friday in Sokoto, the Sultan urged people to carry on with their daily activities peacefully, while politicians who are seeking redress in the courts should accept the outcomes in good faith and support whoever emerges, in the interest of peace, unity and development.
The Sultan also congratulated all Muslims across the country and prayed for the success of elected leaders in fulfilling their campaign promises to the citizens.
