Professor ChukwuemekaJaja Nwanegbo, who specializes in Conflict, Security Governance, and Comparative Politics at the Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka, Anambra State, was interviewed by IMOLEAYO OYEDEYI. During the interview, Nwanegbo stated that the ongoing crisis within the Labour Party will not affect Peter Obi’s efforts to reclaim his “stolen mandate” in court. He also stated that the past actions of the Supreme Court cannot determine what will happen in every subsequent situation. He believes that the judiciary as presently constituted still has something in it that can make it pronounce judgments rightly. On the issue of South-Easterners losing faith in governance, Nwanegbo said that it did not start with the 2023 elections, and it has been a long-standing problem in Nigerian politics. Finally, Nwanegbo stated that the APC government did not take any step to win the confidence of the South-East people in the last eight years, which led to the depth of agitations for secession that came from the region.
